Dogashima Tombolo

  • Chouhachi Museum

    This museum showcases about 50 works by Irie Chouhachi, a master plasterer from Matsuzaki who rose to fame during the Edo period.   • Namako-kabe Street

    This street allows you to see rare "Namako-kabe" (sea cucumber wall) structures, which are uncommon throughout Japan. "Namako-kabe" gets its name from the style where flat tiles are applied to a wall, and the joints are raised with plaster to resemble a sea cucumber. The town actively preserves these structures, recognizing them as a vital cultural asset.

  • Muroiwa Cave

    Muroiwa Cave is the remains of a quarry where "Izu Stone" was mined until around 1954. "Izu Stone" is a tuff rock formed over long ages from volcanic ash that accumulated on the seabed when the Izu Peninsula was an underwater volcano. It was highly valued as a soft, easy-to-process, and fire-resistant building material.

  • Ishibe Terraced Rice Fields

    These are rare stone-walled terraced rice fields in Eastern Japan, located at the foot of Mt. Jaseki, a volcano formed about 1.4 million years ago. Approximately 370 rice paddies, covering 4.2 hectares, spread across altitudes of 120-250m. You can enjoy panoramic views of Suruga Bay below, and on clear days, Mount Fuji is clearly visible.
